Dr Gordiev's area of interest is Orthopaedic surgery of the upper limb, including arthroplasty of the shoulder, arthroscopic and open treatment of shoulder and elbow disorders, arthritis, instability, rotator cuff disorders and trauma.

Dr Gordiev undertook a Shoulder Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA between August 2003 and November 2004, inclusive. This was under the supervision of Orthopaedic Shoulder Surgeons Professor Joseph Iannotti and Dr John Brems.

Her Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio was concerned with the management of shoulder arthritis, rotator cuffdisease and dislocations. During the Fellowship Dr Gordiev trained in shoulder joint replacement,open and arthroscopic shoulder surgery for rotator cuff disease and instability, and surgery for elbow and wrist disorders.

Dr Gordiev regularly attends conferences and surgical skills sessions in Australasia, North America and Europe in order to maintain skills and knowledge in current and emergingtechniques.

Dr Gordiev participates in the teachingand supervision of AOA Orthopaedic Surgical Registrars and ANU Medical Students through the Calvary Hospital, Bruce.

Dr Gordiev has been a Clinical Lecturer at the Australian National University Medical School since 2006. She has had a commitment to teaching throughout her training, and received a certificate for excellence in teaching whilst working at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown, in 2002.
